Kataldhar Waterfall

Kataldhar Waterfall is located in the scenic Ulhas Valley near Lonavala, on the way to Udhewadi Village, the base village for Rajmachi Fort. The trek begins from Fanasrai Village, and there is only one route to reach Kataldhar Waterfall. The waterfall is seasonal and can be seen only during the monsoon season, with its water level depending on the amount of rainfall. If there is a lack of rain for a few weeks, the waterfall can dry up quickly. Both Kune Waterfall and Kataldhar Waterfall contribute to the flow of the Ulhas River, which runs through Thane and Vasai Creek.
The trek takes you through dense forests and slippery paths. Caution must be exercised while descending and climbing near Kataldhar waterfall. The waterfall itself can be observed from Shirvardhan Fort. Kataldhar Waterfall is a hidden gem that many people are not aware of. It is important to have a guide or experts accompany you on this trek, as the forest is dense and it is easy to lose your way. There are caves formed beneath the waterfall, but they are only visible when the waterfall's flow is moderate. Rappelling activities are conducted at Kataldhar Waterfall when the water flow is suitable. It's important to be vigilant at all times as flash floods can occur, so it's advisable not to venture too deep into the waterfall area.
